Why Is KKS Identification System A Must For Power Plants? Not much thought is given to how a power plant works how much equipment they have, where they store it, etc. Well, not much attention is paid unless you are an employee of a power plant. To most of us, power plants are an enigma, some of us understand a little bit of how it works, but many of us have no clue as to what kind of power is even generated from our local plants (water, nuclear, wind, etc.). Within the plants, the entire network of equipment is kept track of with a KKS Identification System. When working in a power plant, what you do not know can hurt you and using a KKS Identification System, which comes from the German developed Kraftwork-Kennzeichen System, allows power plants to keep track of every piece of equipment they have, where it is located, how it is powered, where the nearest entrances and exits are to the equipment, and where the closest shut down port is located. KKS Identification System are vital to the smooth running of a power plant, and further more KKS Identification System is a national system, which means that plant inspectors can easily access the plants information no matter where he or she is. The KKS Identification System is used in three ways, to identify systems according to their functions, known as the process related code, how and to what the equipment is attached (panels, ports, etc) which is known as the point of instillation code, and location of the equipment both in within the building, but its actual position in the room (the floor, a shelf, case, etc) which is known as the location code. The KKS Identification System also records the serial number for each piece of equipment for future reference. The KKS Identification System information is accessed by using identification keys, which are simply the letters of the alphabet, which are associated with each corresponding function or piece of equipment. All the keys start with the letter L and then have a variety of between one and three more letters associated with the function in the KKS Identification System. Using the KKS Identification System allows power plants to operate safely and efficiently and keeps the power plant up-to-date on all the equipment located at the power plant and where it is located. Such a system also allows for other power plants to review what another one is doing and assess if anything being done elsewhere could be used within their own power plant to make it run efficiently. |
